Family planning is defined broadly to include contraceptive practice; fertility levels, trends and determinants; adolescent pregnancy; abortion; public policies and legal issues affecting childbearing; program operation, development and evaluation; information, education and communication activities; sexually transmitted diseases; and reproductive, maternal and child health.
